Freeman Hrabowski

I was very surprised with this video by Freeman Hrabowski dealing with bettering the education process. He deals with Sociology, History, Critical Thinking, and Logic, a bunch of our disciplines. I especially like the idea of redoing the classes in science and engineering to not only make them more fun but to redo them to make learning better. I could have used him to better myself years ago.
I also liked his connection to Dr. Martin Luthor King and how he got his parents to allow him to march at the age of 12. He is a dynamic individual who has a strength to do what's right and help others. My own parents lived as young people back in that era and did go to the march on Washington in 1963. My grandmother and grandfathers generation as well fought for justice and respect. Freeman continues his vision in education and aiding youth, all youth, including so called minorities, in getting better acquainted in the fields of science and engineering. These just happen to be my fields I am studying as well.
President of University of Maryland,
He has a very good history of education and speaking. I looked him up after Foundations of Inquiry class and found that he is not only President of the University of Maryland, he is also an advocate and mathematician. Definitely education, which he strives for, is his foundation. Passing what he has learned and making it easier for future generations is his passion. I hope that he will speak in the New York area so that I may see him in person.
He is also an author of many books and articles on the subject of education and excels in aiding disadvantaged youth in pursuing education in the engineering areas where many people of color may lack. I salute him and all o his efforts.
